Privacy
Your images stay on your Mac.
Image processing
Viewing, editing, annotation, compression, erasing, background removal, and text recognition in Peekpic 1.0 run locally. The app has no photo-upload endpoint, requires no account, and never includes image content in usage analytics. Image files and metadata are used for operations you request.
Optional usage analytics
For versions with Help Improve Peekpic, anonymous usage analytics is enabled by default. We use PostHog to understand feature usage, results, duration, and app and OS versions. You can turn it off in Settings → General to stop collecting new events. Analytics uses a random installation ID, without an account, and excludes images, filenames, paths, photo metadata, clipboard contents, and recognized or translated text. Screens are not recorded. Events go to our PostHog US Cloud project with IP geolocation and person profiles disabled.
Update checks
Sparkle checks for and downloads updates from our Cloudflare-hosted download service. The service processes the IP address and request information needed to serve the request, but does not receive your photos. Sparkle system profiling is disabled, and automatic checks can be turned off in Settings. A new version appears as a download button. Downloading starts when you click it; you choose when to restart after it is ready.
System sharing and translation
Images are passed to another app or service only when you choose to share them. Translation is provided by macOS and may require system language downloads; Apple’s privacy rules apply to that system feature.
Website and support
Cloudflare delivers our website and downloads. PostHog US Cloud measures page views and download-button clicks without cookies or analytics identifiers in browser storage. Browser information is used to compute an anonymous identifier that changes daily. We do not record screens, URL parameters, or referrer URLs, or link website visits to app installation IDs. Website analytics is disabled when your browser sends Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC). A download click does not mean a download or installation completed. Cloudflare may process basic access logs for delivery and security. If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you send so we can respond and investigate. Do not send private photos you do not want us to receive.
